Civil Partnerships - Still not the same a marriage
Civil partnerships still exist but are still not yet recognised in the same way as a marriage, although it is proposed that there will be a way of converting existing civil partnerships into marriages, should couples wish to take that step, later in 2014.
Civil partnerships, at the moment, remain an available option to same sex couples but it is likely that these may no longer be necessary, with the introduction of same sex marriages from March 2014.
Pre and post nuptial agreements can be considered to protect you and your partner in the same way as they would during a marriage.
However the dissolution of a civil partnership remains a slightly different procedure to that of a divorce. Our family lawyers will be able to address all of your queries and deal with your case appropriately and sensitively.
