It is a fact of life that most couples leave everything to each other in their wills – or do not even have wills in the first place. But when a death happens and you find yourself bereaved, the hard work begins of administering the estate. Make no mistake about it, for the executor this is a very onerous and responsible role. At this stage, are you in time to start thinking about inheritance tax planning by changing the will? If there is no will, can you still intervene to alter the effects of intestacy?
