BADLY IN DEBT? – DRO’s - the new law - Don’t be tricked by professional cheats

A new way out is about to be introduced.  From 6 April 2009 debt relief  orders will come into force as an alternative to county court administration orders, bankruptcy or Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs). Use the net to look at http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk.  It applies to those with less than £15,000 in debt, less than £300 in assets and less than £50 per month disposable income. The new law allows debtors to apply on line for debt relief and the Government is approving debt firms to operate the system.

Beware some advice companies on the net. The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has just shut down thirteen debt companies. Now DROs provide an opportunity for con men to rip off the poor and desperate. Your CAB is always a good bet for advice.  We provide free sessions there. Trust your local CAB not people you don’t know.
