Faking it - Personal Injury Claims

You will have read about claimants faking injuries and even faking accidents. Our experience is that this is very rare but there have been some interesting cases recently on the issue of ‘exaggerated claims’. In the case of Widlake –v- BAA Ltd [2009] the Claimant suffered a back injury at work but deliberately covered-up the fact that she had a history of back trouble before her accident. She claimed well over £100,000 in damages but ended-up with just £5000.
